Description

Super rare blues 78. Gennett 6226 A - Jay Bird Coleman "Mill Log Blues" and B - Jelly Roll Anderson "Salt Tear Blues". I wish I could say this is excellent, but it's not. Despite the heavy wear and surface noise the B side is the better side, plays fairly loud and can clearly hear the words. The A side appears to not have been recorded as loud as the other. Just Jay Bird and his harmonica. Sound is more fainter and requires more volume to hear. Surface noise is stronger on A side. Has an edge chip which just touches the first groove on A side - does not affect start of needle and music. Both sides play thru without skipping. Played on an electric school house player with a 78 stylus. No cracks and lays flat. I believe this was Jay Bird's first recording. The Jelly Roll side is my favorite. I know this is on many collector's wish lists, I hate to sell it but economics dictate it. I do have a reserve on it. I pack carefully and correctly for 78's (between 6 cardboard flats with bubblewrap in box with peanuts) and have good record sales feedback. Will ship media mail (standard method) or Priority for a higher price. I will pay insurance on this. Shipping to lower 48, anywhere else including international please inquire before bidding. Keep watching me for more records soon. Thanks and God bless!

As you can imagine this record has had a lot of attention the past 5 days. I stated that it had no cracks and lays flat - I played it again and noticed it does have a very slight warp noticeable when playing. Not bad tho and doesn't affect sound. "Mill log" side has a dull spot about the size of a silver dollar in addition to the heavy wear I stated. Just want to be up front about condition so if there are any other questions please ask now - I will answer fairly quickly. A great and rare and playable record, just not in the greatest condition. Thanks!
