Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original '69 first pressing on the small "Revue" label - is a true lost gem, one of the best ever Southern California sunshine groovers ...all of the original tracks have strong memorable melody hooks::: 1969's "A Midsummer's Day Dream" is probably the best Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys album they never released.
A Midsummer's Day Dream - one of the lost slices of pop perfection from late 60's Southern California.A warm blend of mid-60's Brian Wilson-informed Sunshine Pop - namely Pet Sounds-era post-surf pop Beach Boys. With lots of warm backround vocals, soft french horns, accentuating stings, ever-present vibraphones and a seemingly even combination of Mike Love and Brian Wilson vocals as per the adenoidal Mark Eric. It's rare that you ever hear an album that, immediately upon first listen, is so accurately represented by it's cover art - photos of a beach at dusk, scattered flowers in fields, a blonde-coiffed dude (Mark Eric) amongst yet more flowers. All in a small collage reminiscent of The Beach Boys' All Summer Long album.
The songs. "Where Do The Girls Of Summer Go" is an absolute classic, lyrically overlapping the Beach Boys songs "Caroline, No" and "The Girls On The Beach". "Laura's Changing" again takes the girl-all-grown up theme of "Caroline, No" and mixes it with yet another Beach Boys song, "The Little Girl I Once Knew". You'd be forgiven for thinking that the gorgeous "Take Me With You" was a Pet Sounds outtake. Really. The triumvirate of "Move With The Dawn", "Night Of The Lions" and "We Live So Fast" all celebrate (or simply discuss) the fast swinging lifestyle of hipsters in the late 60's. At times sounding simultaneously ultra-naive and dead-on accurate whilst being complete and unwitting snapshots of a long-bygone (but much celebrated) era. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mark Eric Malmborg was the stereotyped Southern California teenager - blond, tanned, good looking, great teeth, complete with a love of surfing and music. As a teenager he began shopping songs around to major labels, eventually attracting the attention of local radio station engineer Bob Raucher. Raucher helped Eric record material at Hollywood's Gold Star studios. Under the name Mark Eric he also enjoyed modest successes as a songwriter. In 1968 though efforts caught the attention of Warner Brothers executive Russ Regan. Regan eventually signed Eric to MCA subsidiary Uni's newly formed R&B imprint Revue.
Produced by Norman Ratner, 1969's "A Midsummer's Day Dream" is probably the best Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys album they never released. Now, if you weren't a Beach Boys fan that description didn't do much for you. On the other hand, anyone who was an admirer of Brian Wilson's catalog would find this album to be a 'must own' addition to their collection. What you get is someone who managed to nail that unique mid-1960s Southern California vibe that mixed Beach Boys and sunshine pop. Interestingly, Eric and his collaborator/arranger former Animals guitarist Vic Briggs apparently wrote these twelve tracks intending to place them with other acts. The sessions were apparently only intended to demo the material, but the results were so impressive that Revue decided to release it as a Mark Eric effort. California Home - 2:31
