Description

[Rambling] Jack Elliott, Jack Elliot Sings (77 LP/1) (1957).

This 10" LP, the first issued on 77 Records (the label of Dobell's Jazz Record Shop, 77 Charing Cross Road, London), was also Jack Elliott's first original UK LP release, issued in a limited edition of 99 copies. Recorded in the UK by John R. T. Davies. Notes by Alexis Korner.

Tracks: Alabama Bound/Good Morning Blues/Talking Blues/Rocky Mountain Belle/Jesse Fuller's San Francisco Bay Blues/Fifteen Cents/Mule Skinners/John Henry

Condition: this well-looked-after disc has light wear but no visible damage. Plays (like all copies of this album) with a little surface noise and possibly the occasional light click, but nothing seriously affecting the sound quality. Labels clean. Original polythene inner sleeve. Jacket slightly yellowed, with some light marks, light creasing at one corner and a few tiny cracks in the lamination on spine. Lamination worn off for about 1/2" at one corner. Note: jacket has been "customised" by a previous owner, who glued a photograph of Jack clipped from a newspaper, about 3 1/2" square, on the front cover (see illustration); this could possibly be removed. Otherwise a very good copy of this exceptionally rare item.
