Description

Up for auction is the rare Jazz LP by Lorraine Geller, "Lorraine Geller at the Piano," Dot Records, DLP 3174, 1959, Mono.

Lorrain Geller was married to alto sax jazz musician Herb Geller, and was on a couple of his albums. She died suddenly at the age of 28 (of a possible stroke) before the release of this solo album, which is actually material recorded up to four years before 1959, and released as a memorial to her. The liner notes acknowledge her untimely death and gives a biography of her life and work.

In addition to Geller on piano, Leroy Vinnegar is on bass, and Laurence Marable and Bruz Freeman play drums.

Tracks are:

  • Clash by Night
  • Close Your Eyes
  • Mystery Theatre
  • The Blue Room
  • Everybody's Blues
  • Madam X
  • Gee, Baby, Ain't I Good for You
  • You and the Night and the Music
  • Poinciana
  • What a Diff'rence a Day Made

The record is in very good or near mint condition. I don't see a mark on it, with the exception of a sleeve scuff on Side 1. The record has original inner sleeve with color photos of other Dot records, with has some age discoloration, but no splits.

The album cover is also in very good condition. There are no splits, and no wear on any seams. There is visible record wear on the front, and lighter wear on the back.
