A rare album in many ways, this 1964 release is extraordinary.
For one, new talent, jazz singer Mavis Rivers absolutely adored the work of Mildred Bailey, a jazz star during the ‘30s and ‘40s. So, in her wanting to do an album of Bailey material, who better to have by your side in the studio than jazz vibist Red Norvo, who was married to Bailey for ten years.
The end result of such a partnership is Mavis Rivers’ finest hour, handling with aplomb selections EASY TO LOVE, GEORGIA ON MY MIND, I LET A SONG OUT OF MY HEART, ROCKIN’ CHAIR, GHOST OF A CHANCE, LOVER COME BACK TO ME, and CONFESSING, among others.
A tour de force, here in one of its rarest releases, the white label promo: Cover without fault, record within is near mint.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
