Cover/Vinyl: VG+ (very light ring wear/corner wear on front/VG+ (some light surface noise, no giant pops or skips - nothing overbearing, one long hairline - does not affect sound greatly)
Grading Standards: NM, EX, VG+, VG, VG-. "G" will only be sold for archival purposes and is not intended for playback. All pressings are originals unless otherwise stated.

Here it is folks! Al Cohn's arrangements of classified '60's jazz works exclusively recorded for Soviet consumption! One of the rarest privately released jazz LP's of it's time!!

          In December 1962, the Soviet regime cracked down once again on the playing of jazz in the USSR. To fill the vacuum created by this Soviet movie, Radio Liberty in June of 1963 launched a half-hour weekly program with disc jockey Boris Orshansky featuring the best of modern American jazz, interviews, and performers. This series became a showcase for Soviet jazz composers when members of the Benny Goodman group who toured Russia played some original jazz compositions composed by their Soviet counterparts. Because of the times, Radio Liberty had to take strong precautions to protect the identities of the Soviet composers! The songs were originally sent to Crow and Farmer, who then assigned them to arranger Al Cohn to score for the octet.
         
          These works have a modern jazz flavor and compare favorably to the best jazz pieces recorded in the early sixties. A very interesting point of this project to note - it was a labor of love in it's entirety! The musicians WERE NOT PAID and did this solely for what was named "International Jazz Coexistence." Outside experts of the time termed the octet's offerings as "first rate jazz with excellent commercial possibilities." Bridging the gap once again, jazz music was fueled by world affairs and Radio Liberty's 1,500,000 watts of signal power to expand creative expression in the highest of forms.

Most LP's are shipped with in 1-2 business days upon received payment. Once cleaned, LP's are carefully inserted into poly sleeves and shipped with solid stiffeners & professional mailers. All vinyl is routinely shipped outside of album jacket to prevent unnecessary damage. Rare items may not be cleaned if they are graded "Near Mint" upon inspection.
