Description
Clarence Green " Johnson City Blues / Ninety-Nine Years In Jail " Columbia 15461-D 78 RPM 1928. NOTE: The labels have "Green" but I believe it should be Greene. This record was part of the " Johnson City Session " (Johnson City, TN) of recordings that took place in 1928 and 1929 by Frank Buckley Walker head of Columbia Records "hillbilly" recordings division. Great Country Blues on the A side. Nice guitar picking to go with the vocal. This one is in fairly nice shape overall. Still fairly glossy. It does have occasional light surface scratches and scuffs/smudges but nothing serious. A few can barely be felt. A bit more on the B side. It played pretty well on my equipment (for a 78) with a bit of background "sizzling/crackling" but his voice and instrument come through pretty loud and strong. NOTE: Just faintly warped but nothing to affect the play. The labels have a bit of wear and tracks. NOTE: I am selling another 78 by this artist listed separately.
