Jolly What! Beatles Frank Ifield Album VJLP 1085
Rare Jolly What! England's Greatest Recording Stars The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage Album. Number VJLP 1085 from Vee-Jay Records and was released in February 1964. This Controversial Album is referred to by collectors as the "old man" cover, it is the Mono all-black label with silver print version and is definately not one of the counterfeits produced in the 70s. It consists of 8 Frank Ifield recordings and 4 Beatles recordings of which two are the Beatles first two singles.
Condition
Overall, I'd Say Near Mint. The album cover which was sealed up (non-original seal) when I purchased it out of a local collection recently is in Excellent condition with minor rub wear to 3 of 4 corners and slight, slight edgewear. The album sleeve is an original Vee Jay sleeve with a pictorial of other albums of the time and is in excellent condition with the exception of one corner being folded and wrinkled. The record itself appears to be in mint condition, as I cannot see a single scratch or blemish on it even under lighted magnification. The record label itself has a few minor rub marks near the center hole keeping it from being mint. Overall this is in excellent, probably near-mint condition, however I am no expert on albums. However, I may just decide to keep this one for myself.

The Spine IS Imprinted with the Album Title (Jolly What! The Beatles & Frank Ifield) and Album Number (VJLP 1085) On The Bottom. Without any question The Beatles and Frank Ifield are the most popular recording stars in Europe. It is with a good deal of pride and pleasure that this COPULATION has been presented. ENDQUOTE There are no credits listed by the songs on the record label on either side. The hand engraved matrix numbers on the record itself are correct to the best of my research and knowledge. Recent research has produced 4 examples of the later version with the portrait album cover (which is supposed to be much rarer) being for sale however I have yet to find one of these legitimate versions for sale or having been sold in the past 120 days.
