Description
Kate Smith 16 inch transcription disc. Just over 14 minutes this 16 inch, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, Very Rare!
This disc contains the first half of "The Kate Smith Hour" radio program from January of 1945. There is no date on the disc, however Kate Smith mentions that guest Margaret O'Brien just celebrated her 8th birthday, which would date this disc approximately late January 1945.
Kate Smith sings "Don't You Know I Care".
Program includes a skit starring guest Margaret O'Brien titled "Popeta? Inherits The Earth". I wasn't sure about the first word of the title. It's a skit about a small girl fleeing Spain to France during the war
During the opening announcements, Ted Collins states "Hello Servicemen And Women", and there is no sponsor of the show mentioned, which indicates this disc is made from an Armed Forces Radio Service rebroadcast of the show
I could not find any reference to any existing copy of this radio program in any online radio log or database
Disc is in EX- condition with EX- sound with some light surface noise
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
