Description

[Rambling] Jack Elliott, Woody Guthrie's Blues (Topic T.5) (1956/57).

Jack Elliott sings, with harmonica and guitar, six songs written by his friend Woody Guthrie: Talking Columbia Blues/1913 Massacre/Hard Travelling/Talking Dust Bowl Blues/The Ludlow Massacre/Talking Sailor Blues

This is one of the small number of 8" Topic LPs. It was issued/reissued in various forms, with variations in jacket and label style; this carries the matrices WMA LP T5 1A/2A (in embossed printing) and T5-1 A/B (in inscribed handwriting), and the address 17 Bishops Bridge Rd, London W 2 on both labels and jacket. Labels printed in black on buff paper.

Condition: disc has a few very small scratches and scuffs, not affecting playing. (The pressing has some crackle, but this is true of all copies.) Jacket is slightly bruised and worn at edges but has no slits, tears or creases and is unusually clean for its age. A good copy of this extremely scarce and sought-after item.
