General Description

You are bidding on a 1980 Passport, US press, TEST recording (PS 7919) of MIKE RUTHERFORD MOONSHINE / WALKING THE LINE.  Rutherford is the bassist-guitarist for Genesis. This is a TEST pressing. The back is completely blank. The label has no song list or any other information.

A test pressing is not a record - yet. It is a first article of what the record will sound like when manufactured and produced. Test pressings are very rare and collectible. Only a few are made in the pressing plants and even fewer find their way to the collectors’ market.

Included is a hand-written copy of the proposed label - or what the label would look like once produced and manufactured. The label has a typo - the name Hentschel is misspelled, crossed out and corrected. Finally,
since test pressings are not records, the front cover calls this a PROMO - which is like putting the cart before the horse.

This is the ONLY TEST PRESSING of this currently on eBay.

This is a true scarcity - a test pressing with handwritten prototype labels - with errors; and a PROMO cover sleeve. This is one for the ages - and collectors.
