Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Black and Blue album released in April of 1976 was recorded while the Rolling Stones were auditioning for a replacement of Mick Taylor. They eventually chose Ronnie Wood, formerly off the Jeff Beck Group & UK "Birds" to be the replacement. The album is a huge display of the Stones' tendency to enjoy flirtation with different musical genres, and it's got thee groove ::::“Hot Stuff” kicks the album into gear with some fine guitar interplay between Harvey Mandel and Keith Richards. The added keyboards provides a nice background for the guitar work. The song structure, is HIGHLY infectious and would fit along with tunes on the "Some Girls" album.
“Hand Of Fate” is a vintage Rolling Stones tune. Wayne Perkins provides the guitar work here and it seems he was Jagger’s choice to replace Taylor but was overruled by Richards who went with comfort-ability over virtuosity.
The seven minute “Memory Motel” is a rural type ballad and tells a poignant story. Both Jagger and Richards seem totally invested in the song and particularly the vocals. This was a fairly unique outing for the Rolling Stones and has unfortunately disappeared in the rock ‘n’ roll mists.
“Cherry Oh Cherry” finds a future band member providing the lead guitar licks. While working on a reggae riff, it finds Ron Wood providing some creative guitar work for the first time. Interestingly, he would remain on salary until the early 1990s. He would only receive a percentage after that time because Wyman, Watts, and Richards would out vote Jagger.
“Hey Negrita” shows the band heading in a funk direction. There would be more successful tunes of this type on the "Some Girls" album.
“Melody” is one of the weaker songs on the album and years later Bill Wyman stated that the overrated Billy Preston had actually penned the tune.
The lead single from the album was “Fool To Cry.” It reached number ten on the American charts, and finds Mick Jagger straining to be sincere. He accompanies himself on the piano and ultimately drives the song to a somewhat boring conclusion.
“Crazy Mama” brings this album to a close and is a strong tune that leaves the listener grooving to a fine Stones jam. Richards and Wood intertwine their guitars successfully in this hard rocking tune with Charlie Watts booming drums in support. This song is The Rolling Stones at their best.
Black and Blue was another commercial success for the Stones. It would spend four weeks at the top of the American charts and quickly sell one million copies in no time. Here is a rare pre-release PROMO (pressed for media purposes before the commercial pressing hit the stores)
