From October 1963 Tamla records were released on EMI’s Stateside record label and for the next year and a half, up to February 1965, there were about 40-odd such records, including their first commercial successes in this country. However, at this point of time, Motown music was still not mainstream.
This was Kim Weston’s first solo release in the U.K. (It had been her fourth solo release in the US.) I bought this in 1965 and it has been in my collection since.
Both sides of the record were co-written by Mickey Stevenson, who happened to be Kim’s husband at the time. He was head of A & R at Motown.
Both sides of the record play absolutely perfectly. Visibly, I can see no marks on the record. Over 56 years it has been played and handled a few times but, as I have said, plays perfectly. I can hear no extraneous surface noise. There is no handwriting on the record and I have graded it as Very Good + (VG+).
The record is in it’s original sleeve, which has no tears but over 56 years has experienced being handled quite a few times and been subjected to a few house moves, so is not pristine but is in good order. There is a small bit of handwriting on the sleeve - on the front it’s catalogue number (359) has been written by me in the top right-hand corner and on the back top left hand corner the record shop had written a name and number. I have graded the sleeve as Very Good.
The well packaged record will be despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured, at a subsidised cost of £5.
