RARE MOTOWN
MARY WELLS
YOUR OLD STAND-BY / WHAT LOVE HAS JOINED TOGETHER
ORIOLE CBA1847
RELEASED 1963
‘Your Old Stand-By’/‘What Love Has Joined Together’ was Mary Wells’ fourth record released in the U.K. on the Oriole label, in July 1963. I bought this brand new at the time and it has been in my vast collection of Soul, R&B and Blues records ever since.
You might have noticed that the flip side ‘What Love Has Joined Together’ was also done by The Temptations on the flip side of ‘It’s Growing’. (Beautiful song written by Smokey Robinson and fellow Miracle, Bobby Rogers.)
Incidentally, no other Motown act had more singles released on the U.K. Oriole label than Mary Wells. Other than her and The Contours, who had three, no other Motown act had more than two singles released on Oriole.
Both sides of the record play absolutely perfectly. Visibly, the record looks very clean. Over 58 years it has been played and handled a few times but, as I have said, plays perfectly. I can hear no extraneous surface noise. There is no handwriting on the record and I have graded it as Excellent (EX). [Any reflections in the photos are caused by the surroundings and are not on the vinyl.]
The record is in it’s original sleeve, which has no tears. Over 58 years the sleeve has been handled quite a bit but is in remarkably good condition. The only very small bit of handwriting on the sleeve is it’s catalogue number (1847) written by me in the top right-hand corner on the front. I have graded the sleeve as Very Good+.
The well packaged record will be despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured, at a subsidised cost of £5.
I always endeavour to combine postage where possible.
U.K. delivery only.
