SPECIAL FEATURES: Includes 12" Book with essay by Arthur Lubow & lyrics
CONDITION OF RECORDS: EACH DISC IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, I.E. SHOWING SOME SIGNS OF BEING PLAYED (DISC THREE THE MOST), BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE DETERIORATION IN THE SOUND QUALITY. VISUALLY THE DISCS ARE ALSO EXCELLENT WITH ONLY SLIGHT PAPER SCUFFS.
CONDITION OF SLEEVE: VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE – A FEW SCUFFS & CREASES WITH SOME DAMAGE TO THE EDGES OF THE BOX (especially spine with the text on it).
CONDITION OF BOOKLET: EXCELLENT WITH ONLY MINOR WEAR AND TEAR IN KEEPING WITH ITS AGE.
This was probably the original boxed set (in popular music at least), commemorating the life and all the then known works of this melancholy genius. When it came out, five years after his death, Drake was still largely unknown and some argue this set lit the touchpaper that fired him to his current near-mythical cult status.
It was revamped in the 80s with another album worth of out-takes and unreleased material, but this set contains the sometimes lush, sometimes stark beauty of the albums Drake released in his lifetime, along with what would now be known as 'four bonus tracks'.
All in all, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a good quality copy of this set. It's been in my collection for the last 26 years and, although I've got the music elsewhere now, I'll be sad to part with it. Here's hoping someone can give it a good home ...
