SS396/CAMARO (by THE CYRKLE) (Columbia Special Products #466 PROMO-ONLY 1st pressing w/PICTURE SLEEVE, 1966): CLEAN M- PIC SLEEVE & CLEAN VG+ 45!
CLEAN VG+ (it plays M-) promo-only 45, the great lost Paul Revere & The Raiders single! SS396, recorded in the Fall of 1965 to promote the '66 Chevelle, is every bit as rockin' as the Raiders' biggest hits. This is the Fall 1966 release for promotion of the 1967 models; it wasn't available unless you took a test drive from your Chevrolet dealership. It includes a groovy "op-art" PICTURE SLEEVE in CLEAN M- condition. Flip side Camaro (by The Cyrkle) promotes the new model introduced by the automaker that fall.
This was the 2nd year Chevy used this 45 as a promotional gimmick; in '65 they released it with Corvair Baby on the B-side. It seems likely this change of the flip was encouraged by the bad press the Corvair got after Ralph Nader slammed the rear-engine compact in his late-1965 book Unsafe At Any Speed.
