 FREDDIE & THE DREAMERS LP - OLIVER IN THE OVERWORLD

Starline/EMI SRS 5019, Stereo, 1970.

Flipback, laminated sleeve, 1st pressing - matrix numbers SRS 5019 A1/B1.

Rare, surreal, popsike concept album of the late 1960s. EMI couldn't work out how to handle it so put it out on their budget Starline label, where, without any promotion it sold poorly, with the result that there are few copies around.

A mixture of narrative and songs. Songs composed by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood, narration by Freddie and the band members plus minor contributions from the songwriting team of Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook. The song 'Gimme Dat Ding' was lifted from the album and given to 'The Pipkins' becoming a UK top ten hit later that year.

Condition:

Record -  VG+. Very clean labels, no writing. Nice glossy vinyl with a few light marks, plays well throughout.
Sleeve - VG. Clean, no writing, no lifting of laminate. Light creasing, some edge and corner wear.
