PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. ADVANCED RELEASE PROMOTIONAL COPY! RARE ... sought after Acid Archives recommended private press by a pair of real outcasts, real outsiders, who spread their wings ... The sole album from male-female duo, Jade Stone and the luverly Luv is a disarming surprise. Beyond the distinct '70s album cover appearance there is a genuinely good album at hand. Produced in Nashville in the mid '70s, "Mosaics: Pieces of Stone" is just too distinctly different to be neatly pigeonholed into one music genre. It’s no secret, and highly rated, three $$$ valued in the underground record collecting circles, where this has resided since release, that songs such as Waiting For The Rain and Grab Hold have an eloquent groove that does indeed grab hold. Intelligent guitar and keyboard work throughout underpin the basic contention that Jade Stone was a 70s songwriter of some note and, for that, it’s an album with killer tracks, not least the banjo-pickin’ on Cool Breeze. In terms of lost gems that went way under the radar in the cultural void that was the period between 1970 and 1979, Jade Stone & Luv's only album is a workout of all sorts of rock n' roll as seen through the kaleidoscopic lenses of a couple of stoned residents in Tennessee. Maybe the track "Reality" isn't something you would consider in your typical cannon of anthems, but one has to wonder: were young members of The Runaways given this as homework material by Kim Fowley? Listen to Luv's snarl in the background, and wonder along. Also, it's worth taking note of a familiar piano-twinkle and handclap combo that brings to mind Iggy and The Stooges. Jade Stone and his partner the young Ms. Debbie Luv (who deserves special note for wearing some of highest and tightest shorts ever seen) were apparently active in the Tennessee/Kentucky area (easy to picture them playing pool halls and local Holiday Inn lounges). Released on their own Jade label (and apparently printed in miniscule quantities; one reference says 1500 copies), 1977's "Mosaics - Pieces of Stone" is simply one of the strangest of albums. While Stone had a rather non-descript voice, he made up for it by writing and arranging some great psych-influenced material. Supported by a surprisingly accomplished no-name band (guitarist Paul Worley turning in some killer lead guitar - check out his solo on 'Come Home with Me') and supported by Luv's strident and ever-present backing vocals, tracks such as 'Waiting for the Rain', 'Man' and 'Reality' are damned impressive. Courtesy of Stone and Dennis Burnside the collection also sported surprisingly accomplished arrangements for a private press release. While the liner notes indicate the album was recorded in 1977, the overall sound and feel was much closer to something out of the early 1970s. We'll readily admit this one's too strange to accurate describe and can found in the Acid Archives private pressings bible and Hans Pokora's 2001 Record Collector Dreams. Pokora gives it a two disc rarity rating. Based on content I'd suggest it deserved four stars. Bad Cat on the web...go! "Mosaics - Pieces of Stone" track listing:
