RARE PSYCH FOLK ROCK VIETNAM WAR PROTEST 45: WEST - Please! Mr. President AUGUST
Please! Mr. President (Give Them a Date)/Mad Dog Oakie Shuffle, Arr. and Recorded by "WEST," August #33/#333.
This plea to end the Vietnam war after peace talks of more than three years, according to the lyrics, was written by D. Cimino and M. McCasland with music by C. Cimino, and the flip side, a sad lament of lost love that sounds nothing like its title would suggest, was written by Richard A. Conley. Both songs were published by Monterey Park Music Pub., ASCAP. I haven't been able to find any reference to this record or the publishing company through google searches, record sites, or ASCAP/BMI, except that Please! Mr. President is listed in a database of songs about the Vietnam war. There is no reference to the record in bios of the Ron Cornelius-Michael Stewart San Francisco group West. I haven't had much luck in tracing the composers either although D. Cimino may be Douglas Cimino, who was reported in a Pasadena newspaper article to have been involved in a proposed POW exchange in 1971.

West Please! Mr. President excerpt
7-inch 45.
LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor). A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG, VG-, and below are deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records.
Picture sleeves and EP jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
Combined shipping: each additional 45 or EP $1.00 (US), $2.00 each foreign.
