Description
First of several Sun 78's I will be selling over the next weeks. This is a nice original pressing of Sun 189 Prisonaires with Johnny Bragg as lead singer singing U-81 My God Is Real and U-82 Softly & Tenderly. This is a RARE White label SAMPLE copy with the red Sample on both sides. Labels are nice with one side showing maybe some tape residue- I have not tried to remove it. Spindle hole is nice and not routed out. This record was recorded in August, 1953 when Sam Phillips hauled some of his equipment to the prison and the record was recorded there. Read the label closely-Confined to Tennessee State Prison, Nashville, Tennessee. Bragg was serving five 99 year sentences but was later released by Frank Clement. Bragg died last September of cancer. This record has no cracks, chips, warp or bad scratches-- just some scuffs. It plays well on my old General Electric phonograph-- no pops or skips. This record is the real deal and I have never seen another White label Sun 78 on Ebay and only a couple at the Austin, Texas record convention. It has been in my personal collection for YEARS.
