Description

For auction is a near mint copy of RCA VICS 1424, with Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra playing Overtures and Dances.  Works include Smetana's The Battered Bride, Weinberger's Schwanda, Dvorak's Carnival Overture, Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave Overture, and Strauss' Dance of the Seven Veils.  This is a famous and rare audiophile recording that has been reproduced on CD and XRCD for years.  This original album is in near mint condition.  The cover and original sleeve are intact but somewhat faded from age.  The LP itself is near mint or better.   This album was a Stereophile Record to Die For for many years in the early 1990s.  This is a delightful recording with great sonics.   This album also demonstrates the superb skill of Fritz Reiner and the CSO at the time.

I have played this album on my Rega based system and it is sonically excellent, with normal surface noise but no significant sonic flaws. 

This album comes from the collection of an elderly audiophile in my family.  This album has been in storage for the last 15 years and was played on a Linn Sondek LP12 before that.   The owner of this album took meticulous care of all his albums and that is reflected in the condition of this album.  The collection from which I am selling this album is over 1300 albums and I have sold roughly 600 to date (to private parties, not via ebay) , without a single complaint.  Indeed, the purchasers of this collection has thus far been delighted with these albums.  I rate albums conservatively and do not remotely exaggerate their condition.

I pack carefully and ship fast.  I ship albums in special LP shipping cartons.

Flat shipping in the US is $4 via US Media Mail.   Shipping to other countries is the actual cost of shipping along with a $1 fee to cover the cost of the shipping carton and packing supplies.  I absorb the cost of insurance on any album over $50. 

Payment is via Paypal only.  I expect payment within 12 hours of the completion of an auction and will offer items to secondary bidders if payment is not received within 24 hours.  I use Paypal because it speeds transactions and allows me to ship quickly.
