DEVIL IN HIS HEART/BAD BOY

RELEASED 1962
This was the only record ever released by The Donays. The song ‘Devil In His Heart’ became better known when it appeared on The Beatles’ LP ‘With The Beatles’ in 1963 as ‘Devil In Her Heart’ with George Harrison on lead vocal. Originally, The Donays’ original version was released on a small label called Correc-tone, then it got national distribution in the US on the Brent label. The lead singer of the group, Yvonne Allen, found more fame when she joined the re-formed Elgins for touring, after they enjoyed a couple of hits here with re-issues, notably ‘Heaven Must Have Sent You’ in 1971 (originally recorded 1966).
This Donays’ single was released in the U.K. on the Oriole label in 1962. I bought it at the time and it has been part of my vast collection of Soul, R&B and Blues records since.
Both sides of the record play absolutely perfectly. Visibly, the record looks to be unmarked. Over 59 years it has been played and handled a few times but, as I have said, plays perfectly. I can hear no extraneous surface noise. There is no handwriting on the record and I have graded it as Excellent (Ex). [In the photos any apparent marks on the record are caused by the reflections of the surroundings and are not on the vinyl.]
The record is in it’s original sleeve, which has no tears. Over 59 years the sleeve has been handled quite a bit but is in remarkably good condition. The only handwriting on the sleeve is where I have written the catalogue no. (1770) in the top right-hand corner. I have graded the sleeve as Very Good+.
The well packaged record will be despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured, at a subsidised cost of £5.
