Description
Here is a rare promo single by Steely Dan: "Dallas" (mono) b/w "Dallas" (stereo). Released in 1972 on the ABC-Dunhill label (11323). This single was intended to be released in markets with "Sail the Waterway" on the B side, but the single was quickly withdrawn and only promo copies are known to exist (although some copies, with "Sail the Waterway" on the flip, were released in the UK on the Probe label). The single was withdrawn because the band and the record company felt it did not accurately represent the group's sound. It was decided that "Do It Again" would be a more appropriate first release.
"Dallas" was written by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen. Later covered by the band Poco. It's actually a terrific song, and it would have been a nice addition to the "Can't Buy a Thrill" LP.
NM condition. Labels have no writing, stickers, or tears. Vinyl has high gloss, but some scuffs which are more prominent on the "stereo" side. Still a nice copy, and plays well though minor surface noise. Oddly both sides play in mono--though the "mono" side seems to have more fidelity to it, seems more like a duophonic version of stereo. Perhaps it was mixed in mono and a true stereo mix is unavailable? Anyway, both sides play in mono. Comes in original factory sleeve.
