Excellent copy of this rare UK Wideband Groove Decca LP, plays Excellent, and sleeve excellent
PLEASE NOTE - you are bidding on original 1960s vinyl - this will not have completely silent surfaces, even when in unplayed condition - but the sound and recording quality is generally excellent. If you are looking for absolutely perfect blemish-free reproduction, please bear this in mind.
- UK Decca stereo LP SXL 2299 from 1961 (side 1 dubbed from 78s, side 2 real stereo). LXT 5663
- Very first UK issue, wide band groove pressing, with groove at outer edge of label ("pancake"), "Original Recording by" at 10 o'clock.
- Songs by Rimsky Korsakov, Gretchaninov, Brodoin, Balakirev, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Blanter and Stravinsky (see photos for details)
- Sung by Oda Slobodskaya, with Ivor Newton (piano) and the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anatole Fistoulari
- Vinyl appears Exc, good gloss, flat and plays well .
- Fully play-tested Exc. Excellent sound quality, low background noise and quiet surfaces (some slight background noise on the 78s transfers but that is original to those recordings - sound is remarkably good with a stereo cartridge). Side 2 (real stereo) is an excellent and very immediate vocal recording. No wear or distortion even on loud vocal passages.
- Condition of front laminated triple flipback sleeve is EX (all intact, glossy laminate but slightly evenly yellowed, slight disc impression, back clean), laminate is slightly coming away from rear of cover
