Offered here is one of the earliest Motown Records releases, featuring The Miracles with Bill “Smokey” Robinson. This landmark Detroit recording comes from Motown’s infancy and represents the period before the label became the world’s most influential soul music powerhouse.
The featured A-side, “I Love Your Baby,” is an early Smokey Robinson composition written by Berry Gordy Jr. and William “Smokey” Robinson, while the flip side, “Bad Girl,” became one of the group’s first regional hits and helped establish Motown’s reputation. “Bad Girl” was originally distributed nationally through Chess Records after its Detroit success, making these early Motown pressings especially desirable to serious collectors.
