Description
These "Promo" copies were produced as a special release given to radio stations, etc. There were 500 pressed in red transparent vinyl and 250 pressed in transparent green. Louder Than Love was Soundgarden's first release on a major record label (A&M) and pushed the band into the mainstream. Besides how great this record is from a musical standpoint, I don't have to tell you how important this record was for their (then) career and (now) legacy.
The record has never been played. It is in absolute MINT condition. The sleeve has crisp corners and only minimal wear. There is a very slight ring impression only on the front of the sleeve at the top (see picture). The back of the sleeve is absolutely perfect (see picture).
I have provided many high res. photos for close inspection of the vinyl and sleeve. This piece is collector quality. This is not to buy and stick in between your other records. This needs to be displayed in a frame or kept in a safe. I haven't kept it in pristine condition for it to be ruined more than 25 years later.
The listed price reflects:
- Rarity: 250 copies pressed in green-- one of the most limited special editions of ANY mass produced record. Rarer than their debut album (original run of 500). This album is not one that is commonly up for auction because when a collector/fan gets one, they keep it forever.
- Condition: Record is unplayed, untouched, unwarped- MINT. The vinyl is 100% translucent green with no marbling. There is one nearly microscopic darker dot on the vinyl, but that's the extent of any marbling/mixing. The sleeve has light wear on one corner-- see photos. The rest of the corners are NM. There are no scratches on either side of the sleeve and only a small, light, ring impression at the top, front side of the sleeve-- see photo. The reverse side of the sleeve is flawless.
- Rarity + Condition: I've had a saved search of this album in both red and green for almost 10 years and have never seen a copy of either in as good shape as my record+sleeve. "Unplayed" vinyls have been listed before, but it doesn't mean the vinyls haven't been flexed, etc. Seeing a bent up sleeve makes me wonder. With this one you won't have to. It's been kept in a thicker sleeve cover and is not the original one, but that's how I've kept any scratches from happening.
