A Rare 1st Press of The Doors Debut Album and the rare UK Stereo press from my personal collection of Psychedelic Rock, in excellent condition. Early Stereo issues are becoming just as scarce find in this condition as the Mono versions, so please have scroll down this listing for further information regarding this rare 1st press album.

Original released in the UK on the Elektra Label, and Manufactured by Polydor. This Rare Stereo copy released in 1967 has the orange rough textured labels, as used by both the Mono and Stereo early Pressings.

THE SLEEVE

You will note the stereo copy here uses the Mono sleeve, and this is the case, early stereo versions of this album shared the same EKL 4007(Mono) sleeves, but notably with the added gold sticker applied to the rear of the sleeve normally found in the top right hand corner to differentiate between the two .

The early 1st Press sleeve were fully Laminated both sides, as with this copy, which can be found in excellent condition. Slight handling creases and photos show slight corner wear, but the laminate is still firmly adhered to the card surface and in rarely found in this excellent condition. THE VINYL

Visually grading the vinyl under  strong light the surface appears to have only one light sleeve removal line and a short but very faint hairline cross the first track of side one, these appear not to add any noise to any tracks, however I have tried hard to show these appear to be just on the upper surface of the vinyl in using the reflected light across the surface. The grooves are clear of any trapped dust particles, and the depth of shine this 1st Press vinyl retains today can only be down to careful storage and handling. Visual Graded EX

The labels are clean and free of writing, there are some faint spindle lines on the soft paper labels, as I  clearly shown in the photo above these are very light. The spindle hole is an exact fit for the spindle and the paper label has no feathering around the hole which can be associated with an over played vinyl. I have checked the vinyl for warp and bent perimeters from poor storage, and the vinyl is flat when checked on a rotating turntable. The vinyl is centred correctly and stylus tracks perfectly within the grooves and without any lateral movement. 

THE AUDIO

This 1st Press Vinyl is 46 years old, it plays with excellent sound separation and with clarity without a hint of distortion throughout all the tracks. There is slight and very faint static ticks during the intro tracks and these are only transient.

Play grade EX

I would like to stress that the record for sale here is from my Personal collection and I have graded it conscientiously using The record Collectors Grading system for its overall condition. The record was audio tested on my Pro-ject Xtension 10 turntable with 10" tonearm fitted with Ortofon 2M black Cartridge with the correct Diamond Stylus fitted.

I make no profit from postage and packaging.  Your record will be sent regardless of postage cost the same way using a high quality record mailer and two stiffeners, the opening flap will be sealed closed and the package will be marked clearly as fragile, after all as a Record collector myself I also know how important Postage and Packing is to you. You have spent have spent you hard earned money and you now want the record to arrive on time and in the same condition as advertised. I will dispatch the record within 1 – 2 working days of your cleared payment received through Paypal, and you will be notified when I have dispatched it. I have photographed this record without cropping the image tightly so all of the media and its sleeves and inserts, if any, can be clearly viewed, and I have described it honestly.  However, if you buy this record and you feel it is not please contact me through ebay promptly and I will be happy to refund your money in full on return of the same record to me.

RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.  The cover and extra items are in perfect condition.  Records advertised sealed or un-played should be mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.  The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.  Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.  The cover suffers from folding scuffing of edges, of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.
