THE WHITE STRIPES/THE DIRTBOMBS “HANDSPRINGS” ULTRARARE LIMITED EDITION 7” VINYL SINGLE!
Hello and welcome to my auction.
What you are looking at is a very rare, exclusive limited edition 7” split vinyl single by The White Stripes and The Dirtbombs published during the Spring of year 2000 before Jack and Meg White became one of the most loved bands around the world. It feature the following songs:
A side: Handsprings (by The White Stripes) B side: Cedar Point 76 (by The Dirtbombs)
Here’s what Record Collector, perhaps the best music collector’s magazine around, wrote about this 7” in its November 2003 issue dedicated to The White Stripes:
“A split seven-inch with The Dirtbombs (whose drummer, Pat Pantano, did the cover photography for White Blood Cells and Elephant), this came free with Issue 19 of Multiball, a Portland, Oregon fanzine devoted to both pinball and rock’n’roll. The Stripes’ track, Handsprings, fuses a swaggering AC/DC riff with Jack’s Brendan-Lynch-‘Whatever’-style spoken-word monologue about losing his girl to a flash pinball wizard during a trip to the bowling alley (complete with table tilting sound effects). The song has reappeared twice since: on Extra Ball’s Hot Pinball Rock Vol. 1 compilation, and as an extra track on the Japanese version of White Blood Cells”.
This 7” is positioned at number 6 on the special chart compiled by Record Collector of the most collectables, valuable and sought after The White Stripes records. There are only 2000 copies in existence.
The value of this 7” was mentioned to be US $134 (GBP £75, Euro 108) in 2003. Today the value is a lot more.
The record I am selling is in mint, unplayed condition. The gatefold sleeve, featuring three nice shots of Meg White, is in excellent condition.
