Roger Daltry's raw, scorching vocals have never been better. John Entwistle's Zeus-like bass lines will forever remind listens why he is the greatest bass player in music history. And Keith Moon 's nuclear drum bombing also serves as a reminder to all that other drummers can never reach his hammer of Thor blasts. And then, at the top of his game, is Pete Townshend in all of his erudite compositional and musical landscape expansion glory.
Not a wasted track here. From the four-barrelled assault of "Won't Get Fooled Again" to the epitaphic "Bargain;" and the apocalyptic "Baba O'Riley" to the suppressed despair of "Behind Blue Eyes," every song is a triumph.
