There are albums that simply belong in a record collection, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is certainly one of them. This is not a modern reissue, but an early British mono copy carrying the classic black & yellow Parlophone labels, catalogue number PMC 7027 and the original XEX 637-1 / XEX 638-1 matrix cuts.

For collectors, the attraction is the combination of the original UK presentation, dedicated mono mix, early -1/-1 matrices and surviving period inserts. For listeners, it is simply a wonderful way to experience one of the most important albums ever made in the format in which many British listeners first heard it in 1967.

Original Presentation & Inserts

The set retains the distinctive psychedelic red/pink inner sleeve and the famous Sgt. Pepper cut-out card insert, both highly desirable parts of the original album presentation.

The laminated gatefold artwork remains instantly recognisable and still displays beautifully despite its genuine age-related wear. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

Vinyl Condition — G+

This is a well-loved original record which shows visible evidence of previous play. There are surface marks, hairlines and scratches visible under direct light.

Playback has background noise and some crackle consistent with the grade, but the record remains playable and the music comes through with the unmistakable warmth and presence of an original vintage mono pressing. On our equipment there were no skips.

We grade conservatively and prefer the buyer to receive something equal to, or better than, expected.

Visible age-related wear, rubbing, creasing and edge/corner wear are present. There are some small tears and marks consistent with a sleeve that has survived for more than half a century. The artwork remains vibrant, complete and highly displayable.

Shows significant age and handling wear, including damage around the edges, but is retained because it is an important part of the original presentation.
