Description
Up for auction, are two ultra rare records. The first is a 12'' 33 rpm vinyl record entitled, The New York Times Music Corporation Proudly Presents the Songs of Peter Allen & Carole Bayer Sager from 1975. It was released by The New York Times Music Corporation for demonstration purposes only. The record contains rare demos and previously released songs sung by Peter Allen, Jack Jones, Helen Reddy, and Bobby Sherman. The record and its sleeve are in VG+/EX condition.

This second record up for auction is a VERY RARE 45 rpm single of Peter Allen's hit song "I Honestly Love You". It is a one-sided acetate 10"record and was published by Irving Music (made in the US) around 1974. Even though the record label has the word "demo" written on it, I believe (I could be wrong) that this record is a test pressing of the single since the song on this record sounds a lot, if not exactly, like the one Allen recorded on his "Continental American" album. The record is in VG/VG+ condition. However, the record sounds a bit muffled and has some crackling sounds.

A word about acetates (laquers):
Unlike ordinary vinyl records, which are quickly formed from lumps of plastic by a mass-production molding process, a so-called acetate disc is created by using a recording lathe to cut an audio-signal-modulated groove into the surface of a special lacquer-coated blank disc, a real-time operation requiring expensive, delicate equipment and expert skill for good results. They are made for special purposes, almost never for sale to the general public. They can be played on any normal record player but will suffer from wear more quickly than vinyl. Some acetates are highly prized for their rarity, especially when they contain unpublished material.
