Very RARE BRITISH early 70's FIRST PRESSING in laminated cover ...Recorded in 1967 these are great pre-TASTE Rory Gallagher demos for Polydor Records.
When Rory Gallagher died from complications following a liver transplant in 1995 at only 47 years old, the music world lost one of its most influential and respected guitarists. Apocryphal evidence suggests that Hendrix rated Gallagher above himself: "How does it feel to be the greatest guitarist in the world? I don't know, go ask Rory Gallagher." —Jimi Hendrix quote from 1969 Rolling Stone magazine. This little seen BRITISH first issue delivers recordings by the small English Emerald Gem label that were originally a demo for Polydor Records, from which Gallagher was signed, and founded the mighty Taste. Finally released in the early '70s as Rory Gallagher was on the rise as a star, attracting critical praise and recognition. The album was credited as a Gallagher solo effort, but actually captured the guitarist's initial studio recording sessions as a member of Taste. Recorded in mid-1967, Gallagher-penned originals such as 'Wee Wee Baby', 'How Many More Years' and 'Take It Easy Baby' that were somewhat raw and under-produced, but served as a surprisingly effective vehicle for Gallagher's tasty guitar and bluesy voice (image Clapton after a weekend of solid smoking and drinking). This was straightforward, unadorned blues-rock, but if you were into the genre well worth looking for ... The man could sure play guitar !!!
