Description
Extremely hard to find jazz 10” 33rpm LP on the UK London label, catalogue number LZ-NI4032.
Fully laminated, scalloped flipback sleeve has some edge and corner wear and creasing, ringwear and a little edge browning with some laminate loss and chipping to the opening edge. 1 inch of seam split at opening edge, top corner. There is also a small punch hole in the sleeve (and the inner sleeve and Record), which I think is an import indicator. The sleeve is still very presentable, and grades Good plus.
The vinyl plays very well, with very loud cut mono audio reproducing a superbly recorded set. Each side has a few light surface marks and what look like ‘under the groove’ manufacturing lines, with a few other light hairlines. There is a little audible background crackle at the start of each side, between bands and during quieter passages, but the audio is very strong, despite this light surface noise. However, it is louder in some parts more than others. No skips, no jumps, a very enjoyable listen.
Taking into account a visual inspection and playing quality together, the vinyl grades EX- overall.
All in all, The is is a great playing copy of a very scarce 50s jazz classic with a legendary ‘Brit-Jazz’ pedigree. The only copy I have ever seen in 40 plus years of record collecting!
