IGOR PETRENKO - 'DISCO' LP on MELODIYA 1979 
Incredibly funky album from the former USSR ! Don't get fooled by the title : when Russians say it's disco, you can expect real funk ! And this one is very uncommon : it has wild scats on the whole album ! "Orkestr" is a clubby funky version of "I Can't Stop" by John Davis, "Mgnvenie, stoï" is a cover of "For What It's Worth" (the Sergio Mendes version) sung in Russian, "Invitation" is a reinterpretation of the very obscure underground funk monster "Bim sala bim" from The Hudson County, "Disco" is just a marvellous dynamic groove with female scats, and "Caravan" is groovy jazz with scat (one of the best version of this classic). Splendid !
