This auction is for a very rare radio program from the Unistar Radio Programming network from the weekend of September 28-30, 1990, THE PRINCE STORY. This weekly program was distributed to radio stations throughout the U.S.A. during its run. While I cannot confirm, there is a website that indicates that only 50 copies of THE PRINCE STORY were produced!
Auction includes the two LP set of the 2 hour radio program, both LPs in pro clear plastic sleeves, the printed cardboard sleeve, and the 3 pages of information on the show, including the breakdown of the songs and features, timing along with placement for commercials, and radio promos for this program as well as the next week's program (the James Ingram Story).
The records have only been played twice. The first time was on radio station Power 103 WPFR in Terre Haute, Indiana and the other time on my own professional grade turntable. The records are in great condition while the sleeve shows minor wear at the seams and rub from storage.
The program includes interviews by Prince (who rarely did interviews during that time), Wendy & Lisa, Sheila E, Morris Day of The Time, Susannah Hoffs of The Bangles, Sheena Easton, and additional interviews with Prince.
Songs include: Little Red Corvette, Delirious, When Doves Cry, Let's Go Crazy, Glamorous Life, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, Pop Life, Manic Monday, Kiss, U Got The Look, Sign O' The Times, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Alphabet Street, Batdance, Partyman, Nothing Compares 2 U, and Thieves In The Temple.
National commercials include: TGIFriday's, Mrs. Paul's, Hershey Kit-Kat, Trident, and more.
