Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. RARE!!! Advance release WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL = Original 1968 first pressing = the greateness of very first PSYCH-PROG "CARAVAN" album ... largely in demand, with good reason!
Caravan was formed in Canterbury, England in 1968 by Pye Hastings (guitar/ vocals), Dave Sinclair (keyboards), Richard Sinclair (bass/ vocals) and Richard Coughlan (drums). The four had previously played at various times with a local band, The Wilde Flowers, which also featured Kevin Ayers and future Soft Machine members Robert Wyatt and Hugh Hopper.
Caravan was the first UK act to sign with American label MGM/ Verve and their debut album, entitled 'Caravan' was released late in 1968. It was favourably received by the critics and the debut single, Place of My Own was described as having a 'gripping compulsion' with 'scintillating organ work'. John Peel played the album regularly on his radio show 'Top Gear'. The album overall is full of nice romantic melodies and simple but clever progressive rock and folk rhythms. The album was the result of a the band borrowing equipment from the SOFT MACHINE while on tour with them,producing an unusually mature musical statement.
The music is incredible (and the band performed a lot of these songs live well in to the 1970s). You can already hear a lot of that great classic Caravan sound, like "A Place of My Own", "Love Song With Flute" and the epic "Where But For Caravan Would I". And the band does have its humorous side, like "Policeman" (one of the songs that R. Sinclair sings on). "Love Song With Flute", as the title suggest, features flute, which was played by Pye Hastings' brother, Jimmy Hastings (who was around ten years older than the rest of the band, including Pye himself). "Where But For Caravan Would I" is by far the most progressive number on this album, it's full of great organ solos from David Sinclair, and it goes through several different changes and meters...there are obvious psychedelic elements running all through the proceedings giving a distinct edge you don't find in other Caravan albums...

CONDITION: The Cover: solid, with no split seams, but has light ring wear, not showing up real well in photo and an a thin "148" ink number ...otherwise nothing too bad VG(+) and the group photo back cover is VG++ ...
The Vinyl: all clean over both sides, visible near "EX" (excellent) few very little minor soft hair scuffs is all... nobody would put this disc down who was interested... plays clean has clean white promo labels except for a dark-ish area around the text "Special Disc Jockey Record - Not For Sale"
