Description

This 12" diameter 45 RPM record was issued by Asylum Records to radio stations in 1978 to promote Warren Zevon's album Excitable Boy. The record has Werewolves of London on Side 1 and Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner on Side 2. The shrinkwrap is still on the cover, only slit on one side, and the record is still in a plastic liner inside. The vinyl record has the same Werewolf picture printed on both sides.  This record was for promotion only to radio stations, not meant for sale to the public.  Shown here is the back cover ad from the May 26, 1979 issue of Billboard Magazine, making direct reference to this picture disc, and the fact that 5000 of them were sent to radio stations, which helped propel the album to gold status in sales.
