PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. 1967 ORIGINAL by THE HANGMEN...a Washington DC garage band that had a lot of talent, not only did they issue some killer garage/fuzz singles but their album (here) is a sought after nugget of prime melodic garage with scattered fuzz guitar injections and an overall hip sound with the style collectors definitely want to add to their collections.
Most copies (IF) found are in mono...here, the rarer stereo....

Side One of 'Bittersweet' opens with 'Dream Baby' (also selected from the album as a single). You may really dig this sitar and fuzz imbued psychedelic 'Dream Baby' and it clearly is the strongest performance on the album.
'Guess What' is a toned down garage ballad. The Hangmen also like this style.
'Crazy Man' cooks up the rhythms and the lead vocals are performed by bass player Paul Dowell.
'Let It Be Me' was the flip of their 45 'Dream Baby'.
'Terrible Tonight' is a very cool garage rocker about a girlfriend problem. She has a 'plastic heart'....
'Faces' is a re-recording of the second single and is much different. The fuzz guitar is not as killer and more burried in the mix. The back-up vocals make up for this though.
Side Two of 'Bittersweet' kicks off with 'I Wanna Get To Know You', It's a song that Hangmen member Tom Guernsey would have liked it to have been the band's third single instead of 'Dream Baby'.
'Everytime I Fall In Love' is a cover of a song by fellow Washington D.C. band The Fallen Angels. It's a 'love gone wrong' theme that was so common with mid 60s bands.
'What A Girl Can't Do' is a classic Hangmen early 45 recorded in different tempo -- a re-recording of the classic single -- giving new lead singer Tony Taylor his chance to stamp his authority on the song.
'Isn't That Liz' is a band original with some fuzz and a neat harmonica break mid way through the song. It's a grower and the tune will stick in your head.
'Gloria' is the famous Van Morrison song originally recorded by his band Them. Many mid 60s American bands either played this song live at gigs or recorded their own version.The Hangmen performance is a slowed down and extended take with great fuzz guitar and a good vocal performance by Tony Taylor.
CONDITION: The cover is solid and bright coloring just as released some 44 years ago and rated a strong collectible VG++ having but a little cover wear only, most surviving copies have much more wear ...Very crisp and clean front & back = no split seams, no bends and no writing anywhere...
The vinyl is very bright & shiny all over M- real clean, play grade TOP QUALITY MINT and is a VERY collectible rare item from the Washington DC garage teen scene 60's ....with clean "Monument' WHITE PROMO labels, really rare like this ... just noticed a real faint red mark on one label, it's almost gone ...
