Description

This offering is a very rare original Little Roy Tafari Production Poster, printed circa 1978. Little Roy ranks among the very best roots reggae artists of the seventies, with superb releases like Righteous Man, Tribal War, Prophecy, Hard Fighter, Bongo Nyah, Mister T, Don’t Cross the Nation, etc.

I met Little Roy in 1980 in Kingston, Jamaica and conducted an in-depth interview and took photographs in preparation for the release of his song Prophecy on an upcoming Nighthawk Records anthology Knotty Vision. After spending the day with Little Roy, I asked if he had a photograph of himself taken near the time Prophecy was originally recorded. He said he would return the next day with a photo, and the next day he brought me two copies of the offered poster – which he said had been printed two or three years before.

The poster has a fine black-and-white photograph of Roy with his signature (not autograph) under a red-green-and-gold rainbow reading “Tafari Production.” Tafari was the record label that released most of Little Roy’s powerful mid-to-late 1970’s material. Roy was part owner of the label and production company.

The 13”x17” poster is printed on light paper, and is in excellent condition. There is a light vertical and horizontal fold-mark on the piece. There are no other flaws on the poster.

This beautiful poster is far rarer than any of his records. Good luck!
