Description

Hard-to-find private pressing titled "Latitudes 1973-74" released by students and staff of Montgomery County Community College in 1974. Gets a good review in the Acid Archives book on North American vinyl rarities. Very limited pressing...perhaps a few hundred at most and this one has a fold-out poster with student writings: poems, short stories. Third album in a series of yearly college projects and for my ears this is the best of them. Side A starts off with a band named Puddleduck who pull off a killer progressive/psych-rock tune "Tower Of Baradur" that features some superb electric guitar on overdrive and a very good rock vocalist...best track on the album and I know one of the guitarists Jim Bontcue. This tune is followed by a prog-rocker with British influence, an acid folk-rocker and a garage pop/rock tune. Side B starts off with an original old-timey sounding folk tune from The Ambler Ramblers similar to what The Dillards were doing. Guitar/banjo picker Jamie Watson went on to the folk/bluegrass circuit. Next is an acoustic folk tune followed by a jazz trio and finishing with a pleasant instrumental played on three acoustic guitars. Pretty solid effort from college kids. Not as sought after as the "Take Flight" LP from the series but for me a much better album.

Labels are in NEAR MINT condition with light double print on Side B. Vinyl record is in VG++ condition with some very light surface marks and plays with very sporadic vinyl tics...sounds great! Cover is in NEAR MINT condition...still in shrinkwrap! Poster is in NEAR MINT condition. NO RESERVE.
