Description

Note that I am in Switzerland - the ebay postage rates apply to US sellers only and are WRONG for foreign sellers!!! Please read carefully the information concerning postage, customs etc. before bidding. I charge only what the Swiss post office charges me but Swiss postal service is expensive; customs are the buyer's responsibility! All questions cheerfully answered and I combine shipping. Thanks.

Big Joe Williams (Here identified as "Poor Joe Williams"), "A man sings the blues" - vol. 2". NOTE THAT THIS IS A 45 rpm 7" EP. Recorded in Chicago at home by Erwin Helfer in 1957 (who plays piano), issued in May of 1960 in a run of 100 copies. Liner notes by Alexis Korner still recycle the myth that Big Joe was the King Solomon Hill who recorded for Paramount in the 1920's, showing the limited state of blues research at the time! Only recordings for Big Joe in this period between his Vee Jay and Cobra sessions, over a year before he again recorded for Delmark and started a second career during the blues revival.. Record in superb near mint condition, Cover beautiful NM- with a small bit of laminate lift near the sleeve opening and very faint label-sized ringwear the only small defects. Superb copy of a super rare blues item from a period when there was virtually nothing on vinyl.

All records cleaned on a professional vacuum cleaning machine and visually AND aurally inspected. Strict grading, condition guaranteed and records properly packaged by experienced collector - please see my buyer feedback for praise for conservative grading.

Please read the following information carefully before bidding, with special attention to shipping - I am in Switzerland, US postal rates which ebay insists on do not apply!! Bidding on this auction will be taken to mean agreement with the following terms and conditions:

Due to negative experiences please note the following conditions for bidding: PRIVATE BIDDERS AND BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACK PLEASE CHECK WITH ME FIRST TO INDICATE THAT YOU WILL FOLLOW THROUGH ON THE TRANSACTION BEFORE BIDDING OR YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!

Payment by PAYPAL ONLY! Winning bidder is kindly requested to contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction and payment is expected within 48 hours of closing. Do not use the checkout feature, I will contact the winning bidder by e-mail after the end of the auction.

SHIPPING COSTS: All records are shipped in extra-sturdy, oversize heavy cardboard mailers for maximum protection. In these mailers, a single lp weighs over 500 grammes. These provide unbeatable protection, and while they are expensive I do not charge for them. Swiss postal rates have NOT gone up, but the dollar has lost 40% of its value in relation to the franc and the Swiss post office is very strict about weight. ALL RECORDS ARE SHIPPED AT ACTUAL COSTS, AT CURRENT EXCHANGE RATES, THERE ARE NO HANDLING OR OTHER CHARGES, BUT PLEASE BEAR THE COST OF SHIPPING IN MIND WHEN YOU BID AND WHEN GIVING FEEDBACK ON SHIPPING – I DO NOT SET THE POSTAL FEES OR THE EXCHANGE RATES, AND I DO NOT CHARGE FOR EXPENSIVE MAILERS.

This can be shipped more cheaply than a standard lp - the cost of shipping is 11$ to Europe and 13.50 for the rest of the world, to register and insure the parcel costs an additional 7$. I cannot be responsible for unregistered/uninsured parcels sent through the post.

Due to problems with postal delivery NO SALES TO INDONESIA/MAINLAND CHINA, TAIWAN AND HONG KONG ARE FINE. I WILL ONLY SHIP REGISTERED MAIL TO ITALY.

Thanks for looking, more rare vinyl listed.
