Hello- I'm Bill, and over the next few weeks I'll be selling off my treasured record collection, a course of action forced on me by an imminent move and enforced retirement. I've collected music all my adult life, and will be sad to see it all go . My tastes have varied over the years, as you'll see, but folk and rock have been the backbone of my collection.Over the next few weeks there will be some rarities appearing, believe me! All records will be in at least EX condition, and a lot of NM's too. I'm loathe to use NM, once it's played, it's played, but I try to stick to the RC guidelines, even if my grading is too severe! All records are inspected under a good light, and none are cleaned, only brushed. I know everyone has their own favourite cleaning methods, so why deprive you of the pleasure?(Jan 06)

This is getting like a diary!

 A word here about my postal charges. Some international buyers are saying that my charges are too high. I make no profit on the post.In fact since I started selling my collection, I have subsidised the international side by £102 !! I send  by international signed-for,after an early sale went astray, costing me an album, £96 I refunded, and the postage!!A single record to France costs me £8.66. Further afield costs a damn sight more!!

The charges are clearly listed , so why query it after you’ve bought the item?

99% of my international buyers have been superb, but the odd whinge makes this all seem like a bit of a chore!

OK- moan over! I’m not really a miserable old git!

Into August already! This year is flying! Mind you I missed a couple of months earlier this year.

My shelves don’t seem any emptier, really! Mind you, I collected several copies of some records- you know the thing- always looking for the PERFECT copy!

Some I found, some were pretty close. I shall be sorry to see them all go, but glad to be relaxing instead of working. Mind you- doing this ebay stuff burns a lot of time- taking shakey photos, writing the descriptions, doing the listings. I suppose you younger lot could do it in half the time.

This weekend I’ve listed several oddities, some rare ones, a bit of Donovan,  Buddy Holly, some blues and more. Go on, have a look at my other listings!!

With my move getting ever nearer, not only have I got loads of records to sell, I need the money!!

HOLLY IN THE HILLS on CORAL LVA 9227 MONO “Corrected” version.

When I was a lot younger ( in the late 50’s ,early 60’s), I started to collect records. One of my first obsessions was Buddy Holly .I bought a lot of his LPs.

I didn’t realise that this one would turn out to be SO collectable!

‘HOLLY IN THE HILLS’ made in collaboration with Bob Montgomery, was issued in 1965, 6 years after Buddy’s death. Recorded in 1955, with longtime friend Bob Montgomery, this contains some of his earliest work.

What makes this copy so collectable is that this is the so-called “corrected” version. The original release listed ‘Wishing’ on side 2, but played ‘Reminiscing’.

Normally, the mis-press would be the more collectable version, but in this case the error went unfixed until just before the end of pressing, leaving many thousands of copies of the mispress (still very collectable), but very few of the corrected version. I bought mine so late ‘cos at the time, an LP to me was something to save up for! If I remember rightly, about half a week’s pay!

This is my only copy of this, and it has been played. But lovingly so!

The cover is still excellent. Slight creasing to the laminated front. Slightly grubby to the back. On the track list to the rear, at some time I deleted Norman Petty’s name as co-writer of ‘Down the Line’- I was always a stickler for accuracy!

The inner sleeve is excellent.

The CORAL labels are very clean and sharp, with a few spindle marks.

The vinyl is excellent, a few scuff marks and a very few wispy lines, fortunately non-sounding. I have commented before about Mono coping with light marks a lot better than later stereo( not to mention the far better sound quality!)

This album deserves a good home.

One not to be missed!
