Description
This is by far the rarest LP to come out of Lee Perry's Black Ark studio (*) :
SEKE MOLENGA & KALO KAWONGOLO on original 1979 french SONAFRIC label
That LP was done in the last Black Ark days with these two congolese singers (and horn men) who been brought in Jamaica by some french women who actually went away from them, letting them alone in the place. Scratch took the occasion to record this nice album with his Upsetters and the Jolly Brothers, the Upsetter put himself his voice in some part of the LP.
The belgium re-pressed this in the 90's (inventing for the occasion a new title, "from the heart of the Congo") ; some said it was released from kinda lost tapes but that was totally wrong. French SONAFRIC label was at the time (70's) an african music label, in fact pressing everything to come out so-called french Africa - west and central mainly - , and Seke & Kalo took this opportunity to make that LP released in 1979 while the Ark was experiencing its very last hours.
Now the music itself is 100% Upsetters with heavy rhythms and hard mixes while the two congolese are singing mostly in lingala and sometimes in jamaican (more than english). That gets a kinda rockers rhythm near those done by Sibbles or Jolly Brothers that same year.
THIS LP HAVE A FAR, FAR BETTER SOUND THAN THE REPRESS ! That why I would only sell it at a serious price (which I had to pay to get it cause, say, you must know that this was released in so small quantity that even if I'm french I had to find it from an old... american store stock thru an englishman ! And that's the truth.). PLEASE NOTE that this is the one and only attempt to sell this, and it's for 3 days only. Meaning if this remain unsold - which is more than possible considering the price - I would keep the record instead of selling it under that amount.
Record in totally MINT (N), sleeve is N-/EX++ from N/EX/VG/G/P grading system
(*) rarest LP as any DIP LP, or Faith super eight, or Romeo on Federal, Scratch the super ape on Upsetter, Jah Lion on Upsetter, Murvin on Upsetters, etc... can be seen more often.
