THE RAREST (?) ELVIS 78 RPM SHELLAC RECORD, THIS WAS RELEASED IN 1961 AND THE 10" SHELLAC FORMAT WAS VIRTUALLY DEAD, VINYL HAVING BEEN INTRODUCED IN THE LATE 1940's, AND SHELLAC SOLD IN VERY SMALL QUANTITIES. ESPECIALLY IN SOUTH AFRICA WHERE FEW PEOPLE COULD AFFORD TO BUY RECORDS AT ALL. THE 45 RPM 7" SINGLE WAS NOW KING, BEING MORE DURABLE, AND EASIER TO STORE, AND HANDLE.
Offered on this auction is this South African 78 rpm pressing of ELVIS PRESLEY performing:
SIDE 1: LITTLE SISTER
SIDE 2: MARIE'S THE NAME HIS LATEST FLAME
This record was pressed on the Black RCA label.
The pressing number is 71.372.
The side 1 matrix is M2WW.0861, and the side 2 matrix is M2WW.0860
It comes in an original South African RCA paper sleeve.
CONDITION:
Playing surfaces are in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) condition; and show very few signs of use. The record does have some very minor scratches, however it has been play tested, and plays perfectly on both sides.
Labels are in Good condition, see photos.
I am busy thinning my collection down, so I have listed other 78 RPM 10" records, all South African pressings. This is a great opportunity to possibly obtain different RARE titles. These records do not come on to the market often.
