Description

RAS MICHAEL & THE SONS OF NEGUS

NONE A JAH JAH CHILDREN / GLORY DAWN

Grounation GRO 2037 (1975)

Negus is a title of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie, the Almighty God of the Rastafarian movement, and none pays him more eloquent homage than Ras Michael and his group, the Sons of Negus. This is the beat of the heart, based on the original "instrument of ten strings," the hand-beaten drum. On Dadawah in 1975, Michael took a religious ceremonial gathering as the basis for an album of elegant poetry and raw, visceral power. Later, eschewing minimalism, such works as Promised Land Sounds added electronics and produced a primeval psychedelia without compare in Jamaican history. This is the sound of the Roots Church in the 21st century, highly charged hymns for humanity's future survival.

NOTE: It has become a source of some annoyance to me that I am forced to list within eBay's somewhat limited sub-categories for Reggae. I would rather there was just one blanket Reggae category than be forced to list Rock Steady as Ska, Lovers Rock as Roots etc. The only other option is to use an 'Other' category, which eBay are quick to point out is not the best way to ensure buyers can find the items they might want. We desperately need sub-categories for Rock Steady, Lovers Rock & DJ in the Reggae category. If you agree, please add your voice to mine in asking eBay for these additions.

The vinyl is in excellent condition & plays with hardly any background noise.

Vintage reggae & ska is sought after by collectors in just about any state, due to the extreme rarity of better than good condition copies.
