Raul Lovisoni “La gnove lune" LP issued by Studio AVF (985) in Italy, 1980. ****** Rec:m- / Cov:m- ****** Lovisoni composed in 1979 with Messina of the groundbreaking “Prati bagnati del monte analogo” LP issued on Cramps. Just one year later Lovosoni privately issues via Studio AVF a second more intimate LP, the much rarer “La gnome lune”. Offered here is this very unusual project where the Friuli regional dialect is introduced in a very refined and complex progressive music context. A visionary LP which is as underrated as obscure, probably because almost no copy had an official distribution. “La gnome lune” is a contemporary study in orchestration in seven movements in form of song recorded with ostinato bass and percussion. The reference to Gurdjieff is still important because at that time the great Greek-Armenian mystic was beginning to exert a large influence into the diverse and stimulating artistic environment that for many years developed around Battiato, which included, among the others, Juri Camisasca, Francesco Messina and Giusto Pio. Battiato's entourage was characterized by a deep desire of spirituality that would not adhere to a particular faith, but rather involved a full opening of the mind and body. This spiritual quest, that one can hear shining through the music, was something intimate and personal and it never became the expression of religious extremists looking forward to life in another world.
