Event Of Your Leaving' features four gauzily impressionistic pieces by West Coast dreamers Liz Harris (Grouper) and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma (The Alps, Tarentel) as Raum in response to the visual work of Latvian artist Vija Celmins. Using piano, tapes, guitar and keyboards they impress a beautifully hazy, half-remembered set of dreams and mottled memories succinctly consolidating their not-so-distant respective sounds. With 'In Stellar Orbit' they float free in ferric space with thirteen minutes of chiming guitar harmonics and tantalising glossolalia, whereas 'Blood Moon' is a more visceral experience of crushing, near-doomy distortion leavened only by Harris' distinctively angelic timbre, which really comes to the fore against cushioned keys on the title track and the breathy drift of 'In Held Company', or matched with abyssal, cavernous bass echo in the melancholic enervation of 'Blood Loss'.
