Description

This two LP set was originally recorded in 1963 on 35mm film, which became the proprietary recording technique for the Mercury Records audiophile Living Presence Series.. The original recordings have long been coveted by collectors.  Classic Records re-released their audiophile version from the original masters in the 1990's, with their 45 rpm editions being their version of demo quality LP's.
Here, Paul Paray, the French music director of the Detroit Symphony at the time of the original LP recorded French impressionist classics, much like RCA did a few years earlier with Charles Munch, the French music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  Same repertoire, both with stunning engineering and beautifully performed by these maestros and their respective orchestras.
This Mercury recording/Classic Records reissue contains the following performances:
RAVEL: Rapsodie Espagnole Alborado del Gracopso Pavane pour une infante Defunte La Valse
       IBERT Escales

This is one definitely worth bidding on.  Best of luck.  -Bill DeMarco
