(look to the back cover top right!...More to that...see that the A side...it has the "orange tint" shade, while the B Side has the new to come (1972) "grayish" tint!!... nor a REISSUE company will do that!!!....WOW!...Also a Fania reissue "Dead Wax" numbers at the end containe almost 10 characters (??) this original has LP-578 A or B and tiny characters (2) distant from those one!...MOST IMPORTANT the label in the Reissue is part of the vinyl...IT;IS VINYL!

The straight-ahead guarachas "Adiviname Y Olvidate", "Vive Y Vacila" and "De Donde Vengo" are Barretto masterpieces which are handled superbly by the legendary and golden-voiced sonero Adalberto Santiago while theupbeat son montunos "Invitacion Al Son" and "Hipocresia Y Falsedad" are very much tipico-flavored and very tough but classy. Buy this CD (in this case the LP!!!) while it's still available!"

I still think Emusica is doing the same mistakes than the original Fania CD producers. In some cases they worked with spoiled masters no matter how bad they sound.

1- Look At the Scan Of The Ray Barretto “classic “Hard Hands” I Included…I will post it also!....It’s a reissue that was sealed but I opened…it has a white color carboard inside the cover (a new technical process), …originals have the usual “grayish’ cadboard that you will find in all your original early LPs. The inner sleeve is white not the Fania sleeve I'm including with "Together! (of course if I try to cheat you I could included another Fania original inner with this one!)

2- Regarding this hard to find “Hard Hands “ Lp…. years ago in 1985, I met and got some information from a great FANIA collector in Puerto Rico (He Has 2 copies of each original FANIA, COTIQUE, TICO, etc  in his collection)…….I once went to his office and saw a NM “Ray’s “Hard Hands” LP on his desk…He just received it back from the then Fania catalogue owners that they "leased" from him in order to release more Hard Hands LPs…The Master was lost or damaged….Of course it brought $$$ to him…He got back his NM LP and Fania got his reissue recording from an analogue source! And if you did not buy the LP in the late 60s then probably what you have is a reissue recorded from an LP! At the time, at least, you had the original inner sleeve, now it will be a simple white color one...IN SOME REISSUES EVEN THEY USED THE TROPICAL LABEL THAT SUBSTITUTED THE CLOUDS ONE IN MID 1978!

Emusica releases doesn't show the original Fania release date, neither their original coding (ex: Fania SLP-500).

Lebron Brothers' Criollo is one example of the mentioned misleading guides in recordings selection. I think recordings like "Asunto De Familia", "Picadillo A La Criolla", "The Best of Lebron Brothers" or "Pablo" might be better choices.

"Together was released in the early 1970's, in a period when many salsa artists felt they had to do tunes in English to get the rest of their work released. The title track is an example of the miserable results that usually followed. Ray sings, "I know a beautiful truth and it's helped me be free, I know I'm black and I'm white and I'm red, the blood of mankind flows in me, And so in every face I see, I see a part of you and me TOGETHER...". Fortunately, Adalberto Santiago takes over the vocal duties on the rest of the tracks. The result is fantastic, cooking salsa. "Hipocresia y Falsedad", "No Olvido a Caracas", "De Donde Vengo", "Vive and Vacila" and "Invitacion al Son" are straight-ahead salsa masterpieces. "Tin Tin Deo", a Chano Pozo classic made famous by Dizzy Gillespie closes out the CD in an Afro/ Latin Jazz/funk percussion showcase. This group really played well together: Adalberto Santiago, Roberto Rodriguez (tpt), "Papy" Roman (tpt), Orestes Vilato (timbales), Tony Fuentes (bongos), Luis Cruz (piano), Andy Gonzalez (bass). They broke up in this form shortly after this recording and, although Barretto formed a solid group with replacement players, many prefer this line-up. Andy Gonzalez ended up playing with his brother Jerry in the Fort Apache Band."

Record Grading: Standard guidelines for grading records comes down to a subjective judgment that may vary from person to person. We grade records and LP covers visually AND (when possible) play-tested. We make every effort to give full disclosure (remember that the LP has at least 12 tracks and the grading may vary between each other)  and your satisfaction is guaranteed. Don't assume that our vinyl determination of "Very Good+" is the same as yours!

MM RECORDS: are shiny, with no visible defects. They might have some minor superficial (“Paper”) scuff but they should play without any noise. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable. Major factory defects also must not be present; a record and label obviously pressed off center is not Near Mint. If played, it will do so with no surface noise. (NM records don’t have to be “never played”; a record used on an excellent turntable can remain NM after many plays if the disc is properly cared for.)

NM COVERS: have no creases, ring wear or seam splits of any kind.
NM  PICTURES SLEEVES: should look as if they never housed a record. This is a great reason to remove your 45s from their picture sleeves and keep them separate. Just keeping the 45 inside the sleeve will cause damage than can reduce the grade of the sleeve.

VG++ (Excellent) RECORDS: Barely noticeable play wear and background noise. May have surface scuffs and/or superficial marks, which will be inaudible or indiscernible from the background, no scratches. Very nice, no flaws noted.
VG++ COVERS: Artwork is still as close to perfect as can be. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear! Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show white (where the artwork pasted slick was) meaning, slight wear. No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs can make this grade.

VG+ RECORDS:  may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, but repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable

.VG+ COVERS:  should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable location. Also, a VG+ cover may have some defacing, such as a cut-out marking. Covers with cut-out markings can never be considered Near Mint Unless Tiny/Small (EG: Tiny DH).

VG+ PICTURE SLEEVES: might show some very light creasing where it is obvious that a record once resided (or still does reside). A VG+ picture sleeve might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the sleeve’s most vulnerable location.

VG RECORDS:  have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail. When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches  may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise will not overpower the music otherwise. Minor writing, tape, or a sticker can detract from the label. Many collectors who have jukeboxes   will use VG records in them and not think twice. They remain a fine listening experience, just not the same as if it were in better shape.

VG COVERS and PICTURE SLEEVES:  will have many signs of human handling. Ring wear  in the middle or along the edges of the cover where the edge of a record would  reside, is obvious, though not overwhelming. Some more creases might be  visible. Seam splitting will be more obvious; it may appear on all three sides,  though it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written or stamped  a price tag on it, too.
