In 1984, THIRTY EIGHT years ago, the first and original 'Ghostbusters' movie came out. It starred a couple of Saturday Night Live veterans (Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd), Harold Ramis (an SCTV writer), Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Rick Moranis (an actor from SCTV). Director Ivan Reitman directed 'Stripes', 'Meatballs', and the sequel to 'Ghostbusters', among several other movies. Reitman passed away in February of this year, and Harold Ramis died in 2016. (RIP to you both. You guys helped create an awesome legacy!)

In 1989, a sequel to the first 'Ghostbusters' movie came out. It pretty much starred the cast from the first film, reprising their roles. Fast forward to 2016, and a new, rebooted 'Ghostbusters' movie was released. It stars women in the place of the guys, and is usually known as 'Ghostbusters: Answer the Call'. A little later, in 2020, yet another 'Ghostbusters' movie came out, and this time it's called 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife', and is actually a sequel to part II. It's directed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman! It also features appearances by most of the original cast (except for Rick Moranis, and Harold Ramis, who is featured as a hologram).

For your consideration today is a copy of the hit theme song to that great 80s original film, sung by Ray Parker Jr.! It came out in 1984 to promote the movie. It's a special, limited edition SHAPED picture disc! Side A is that iconic ghost, and the B side is a pic of the film's stars and song titles and credits. This copy has a touch of "tea-staining", which is the vinyl turning a rust color, due to oxidation. (Many 70s and 80s pic discs used inferior materials, and occasionally oxygen would seep into the vinyl, causing it to turn a brown color.)
